JOHN PALMESINO is an architect and urbanist. He has established Territorial Agency, an independent organisation that works for integrated spatial transformations. He is the convener of the MA in Research Architecture Studio Seminar at Goldsmiths. He is Unit Master at the AA Architectural Association School of Architecture and Research Advisor at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. Previously he has been Head of Research at ETH Studio Basel – Contemporary City Institute. He is the initiator of the multidisciplinary project ‘Neutrality’, which analyses the implications of neutral practices on the transformation of contemporary polity-space relations. He is the recipient of a Graham Foundation Grant award for his researches on the ‘Architecture of UN peace-keeping missions’. He is a founding member of multiplicity, a research network that explores contemporary territorial transformations. The Milan–based organisation deals with contemporary urbanism, representation of inhabited landscape transformation, visual arts and general culture. multiplicity is a multidisciplinary network of architects, urbanists, social scientists, photographers, filmmakers and visual artists.
He is on the Advisory Board of AiSS Arts in Social Structures, a Ghana–based NGO. He has published internationally and his works have been displayed at the Venice Biennale, at Documenta, the Triennale di Milano, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, KW Berlin, Slought Foundation.
