Karen Mirza is an artist most renowned for her collaborative practice with Brad Butler. Their most recent project, an Artangel commission ‘The Museum of Non-Participation’, took place over 18 months in London and Karachi and became a social and political experiment to define the boundaries of non-participation and resistance. They have also recently completed residencies in Halle, Germany, and at the Serpentine Gallery’s Centre for Possible Studies. Karen’s work is fully engaged with challenging and interrogating concepts such as participation, collaboration, the social turn, and the traditional roles of the artist as producer and the audience as recipients. She is a skilled filmmaker, and has shown extensively in international film festivals including London and Rotterdam.
